Chair of Chaitons LLP’s Litigation Group and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Stephen is an experienced litigator with proven expertise handling large and complex commercial litigation files.  Stephen has extensive experience in shareholder and partnership disputes, construction and real property litigation, condominium disputes, employment litigation, professional negligence and franchise disputes.

Stephen provides clients with pragmatic and effective solutions to their problems. He understands that a negotiated settlement is often the most desirable result for his clients.  However, if that is not possible, Stephen will present a strong, organized and compelling argument for his clients in court.  Stephen regularly appears before all levels of courts in Ontario and before administrative tribunals.  Stephen has substantial experience in alternative dispute resolution, including complex multi-party mediations and arbitrations.

Stephen works closely with the firm’s Corporate and Real Estate Groups when their clients require litigation advice.

Stephen obtained his B.A. at York University in 1980 before proceeding to Osgoode Hall Law School, where he received his LL.B. in 1984. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1986.
